What Is Earthworks Procurement — and Why Should a Builder Care?
“Procurement” sounds like something a big construction company has a whole department for. For most builders, developers and landowners, it just means one thing: getting the sites, the material and the people a job needs, at a fair price, without losing a week on the phone.
That is exactly the job ReadyFill now does.
Earthworks has more moving parts than people expect
Even a modest job can involve several separate problems:
- Somewhere for excavated material to go.
- Fill to come in, if the site needs building up.
- Trucks and machines to move it.
- Operators who turn up when they say they will and do the work properly.
- Timing all of it so nobody is sitting idle waiting on somebody else.
Usually these get solved one at a time, by whoever has a spare hour. Each one gets solved the quickest way, not the cheapest way. That is how a job ends up paying tip fees on material a landowner down the road would have taken for free.
What ReadyFill’s procurement service covers
We treat all of those pieces as one problem. Depending on what you already have, we can:
- Find receiving sites for your surplus material, matched to the material type, how much there is, the location and the dates.
- Source fill when your project needs material brought in.
- Coordinate the movements — sites, dates and communication — through one point of contact.
- Work with your own trucks and operators, so you aren’t paying for capacity you already own.
- Source extra transport and equipment from verified contractors in our network when you need more than you have.
Why it comes out cheaper
The saving comes from the network. Because ReadyFill connects a large number of tip sites with businesses that have fill to move, we can usually find something closer and cheaper than the default. Shorter truck runs, little or no tip fee, and fill that costs little or nothing to bring in all add up quickly.
Our price promise: we will either match the price you have, or make your job cheaper. Whatever the job would cost you now, you won’t pay more by coming to us.
How it works in practice
You tell us about the job. We look at the resources you already have, search the network, check that the sites are suitable and available, and compare the result against what the job would otherwise cost you. Then we come back with a plan. You approve it before any site is told anything.
A person rings to confirm every site before trucks are sent. A site that has been found and held for you isn’t the same as one that has said yes, and we never treat it that way.
Who it suits
Builders and civil contractors with regular spoil. Developers with fill coming out of one stage and going into another. Landowners with a one-off job who don’t know where to start. If the job involves dirt moving from one place to another, it is worth a conversation.
