Why a Bigger Fill and Tip Site Network Means a Cheaper Job
Ask anyone who moves dirt for a living what drives the price and they will tell you two things: how far it has to go, and what it costs at the other end. Everything else is detail.
That is why the size of the network you can draw on matters so much.
Distance is money
Every extra kilometre between your job and the site taking the material is paid for several times over: in fuel, in driver hours, in wear on the truck and in loads you could have done in the same day. A site that is close instead of far away can change the whole economics of a job.
But you can only use a close site if you know it exists. A contractor working from their own contacts has a handful of options. A network has far more.
The other end is money too
Commercial tips charge to take material. Plenty of landowners, on the other hand, want clean fill — to raise a low paddock, level a block or build a pad — and would rather take it for nothing than pay to buy it. Every load that goes to one of those sites instead of a commercial tip is a fee you don’t pay.
What ReadyFill has built
ReadyFill has built exactly this: a large network of tip sites that want fill, businesses that have it, and the contractors who move it. It started as an app and website where people post what they have and what they need and it has grown into a network that covers a lot of ground.
That network is what our procurement service runs on. When you give us a job, we aren’t ringing the same three numbers. We are searching across everything we can see for the closest suitable site, the cheapest fill or the right contractor.
Matched, not just found
Close and cheap isn’t enough on its own. A site has to be able to take what you are sending, in the amount you are sending, on the days you need. So we look at material type, volume, access, dates and any conditions the site has, and we only put forward sites that suit.
Free fill is raw, unscreened material straight out of the ground, so the odd stray piece of brick or root is normal. A load that is full of foreign material or shows signs of real contamination is not, and it shouldn’t go anywhere it isn’t allowed. Anything that needs testing should be tested.
Why we can promise a better price
Because the network gives us so many options, we back it with a promise: we will either match the price you have, or make your job cheaper.
It keeps getting better
Every new tip site and every new job added to ReadyFill makes the network more useful for everyone on it. More sites means closer sites. Closer sites means cheaper jobs.
